It's getting close, isn't it?
Yup.
Of course I'm freaking out. Silly question. Deal.
My way of dealing is being almost fully packed four days in advance,
having my apartment and car clean, and only a couple of days of food
left in the refrigerator. And lots of cat food for the cat caretakers.
Tonight's preparation featured selecting a soundtrack for this trip.
below is what I'm taking with me, besides two boards, a medium duffel
with over $1,000 in surf supplies in it, a medium size duffel with
a few clothes (the least amount of anything) and a backpack for my day
trips to...wherever I end up.
In no particular order, artist, album and inspirational song that made me
put it into the CD carrier.
1. Pink Floyd, Animals, Sheep.
2. Pink Floyd, The Division Bell, Marooned.
3. Godsmack, IV, Vodoo II.
4. Dream Theater, Falling Into Infinity, Hollow Years and Lines in the Sand.
5. Lincoln Park, Meteora, (all of it).
6. Enigma, MCMXCAD, (all of it).
7. Godsmack, The Other Side, Running Blind.
8. Rush, Vapor Trails, Ghost Rider.
9. Rush, Signals, (all of it, but of course, "Losing It." (and if you haven't listened
to this CD on takeoff, ignoring the rules of the cabin, you definitely are missing out)). It's my
all time favorite travel CD. The sensation of motion combined with this CD
is somewhat unbelievable. Ditch the CD/Pod until the stews take their seat, then
discreetly MAX it out of it on takeoff and blow your mind. Play the whole thing
through non-stop from the moment you get pushed back in your seat until the moment
the CD ends. Unreal.
10. ACDC, Back in Black, Shoot to Thrill.
11. Ozzie Ozbourne, Diary of a Madman (self-explainatory).
12. Led Zeppelin, Physical Graffiti (entire two disk set).
The only thing that's really missing for me as far as a luxury item goes is one of those
small, portable DVD players (and someone to help me with my luggage!). I really love watching movies all night long and when I
go to sleep and I'm going to miss that. I wish I could have that and another
soft case with all DVDs in it.
